About us

Mirkrida was founded by Naomi Mirkrida and David Black Boar in 2019

Through their work, they create a safe learning environment for anyone who feels called to work with spirits and traditions from continental Europe.

Sittan is a modern tradition with old roots.

These roots reach back to Naomi’s family traditions from her mother’s side, to the folkmagic traditions from The Netherlands and Germany, and to older Teutonic practices such as the continental European practice of Seidr and the practices of the Indo-Europeans.

Sittan & Animism

Sittan is a land-based tradition, working with a wheel of the year, a moon wheel, sacred herbs, spells, charms, healing, runes and trance journeys.

The work with 12 soul aspects, a spirit team, your energyfield, ancestors and your energywheels form the foundation of the tradition.

Our purpose with opening up this tradition is to help more people connect to themselves, to the traditions in their ancestral field, and to the ensouled world around us in order to help them grow and to live their life in a way that feels grounded and healthy.

Personal
development

Each ritual path asks the person walking it to work through personal themes, patterns, and convictions

Another word for this is ‘healing’

In our local Sittan tradition, we could also call this path a “heilsweg”, a road of healing and health

Each practitioner walks his/her unique path and encounters personal challenges

Personal development is a big part of Sittan, and we are here to support you in this.

Seidr beginners course
This beginners course offered more than I expected and I already expected great things from it. Although I’m familiar with Germanic cosmology, the approachable and down to earth teaching style of the course gives the often academic or esoteric concepts depth through the actual practice of Seidr. I would absolutely recommend this course to anyone interested in Seidr. Naomi and David are not just skillful practitioners and teachers they provide lessons and delve into topics in ways I’ve never seen them explained before. As an example, the Germanic Wheel of the Year is a framework they developed to illustrate all the seasons and how they interact and align with the nine worlds, Yggdrasil and the inhabitants of these places. However, students aren’t left with just an intriguing concept, we are also taught and encouraged to develop our skill in trancework & journeying through exploring and experiencing the concepts laid out in the year wheel in very tangible ways. This is only one example, there are many more takeaways from this course which I believe will enrich the practice of anyone interested in the workings of Seidr, whether you are an experienced practitioner of other magical frameworks or this is your first time delving into these arts.
